Unfortunately, Southwest Florida has the perfect climate to allow fleas and ticks to thrive in your
home environment. Fortunately, Personalized Pest Control, Inc., has the MOST EFFECTIVE flea
program available. The ONLY way to effectively rid your home of fleas and ticks is to thoroughly
treat the entire premise where your animal dwells. This will include treating the following areas of
your home:
- Interior: Bedding areas, carpet areas, furniture -- all areas where fleas will harbor and lay
eggs
- Exterior: Perimeter of the home
- Lawn and Shrubs: All lawn areas where pets frequent. Even if your pet does NOT go
outside, it is important for the lawn to be treated, as the source of your flea infestation
generally begins outside and can be transferred inside.
Additionally, for homes with heavy infestations of fleas and/or ticks, we provide a follow-up visit
within 7-10 days of the initial treatment.
How to Prepare Your Home for a Flea/Tick Treatment:
In order for the technician to properly treat your home, it is imperative that both the interior and the
lawn be clutter-free to allow for even disbursement of the chemical. You can assist us simply by
following these simple instructions:
- Interior: Pick up as many items off the floor as possible -- shoes, toys, clothes, etc. Make
sure bedding is not touching the floor as well. Turn sofa cushions sideways. Mop kitchen
and bathroom floors. Vacuum all carpet areas and throw the bag away outside of the home.
Please do not mop or vacuum for at least 3 days after treatment.
- Exterior/Lawn: Pick up any equipment, tools, toys, etc., lying in the lawn. If you need to mow
the lawn , please do so before we treat the lawn. Please do not mow or water your lawn for
at least 48 hours after treatment.
Care of the Animal:
On the day of your appointment, it will be necessary for your animal to be properly treated for fleas
and ticks as well. This may include a flea bath followed by a flea prevention treatment such as
Frontline or Advantage. Your vet can recommend which treatment is best for your animal. Your pet
will then need to be out of the treatment area for at least two(2) hours after the treatment occurs. If
necessary, we can schedule your service where your outside treatment is performed one day and
your inside treatment is performed the following day. This allows you the flexibility of moving your
pet in or out as needed. However, for optimal results, treatment of both areas is recommended at
the same time.
After treatment has occurred in the home environment, your pet should remain on a flea prevention
treatment program as outlined by your vet to prevent re-infestation. Fleas require a host to live and
breed and if your pet is being properly treated, the fleas will not be able to survive and will,
therefore, not be able to continue to breed. You will then be stopping the cycle of re-infesting your
home environment.
Summary of Flea/Tick Treatment:
This is the ONLY effective means to eliminate fleas and ticks from your property. Treatment of both
the inside and the outside of the home environment, partnered with treatment of the animal, WILL
solve your flea/tick problem.
